Name: Vivisector
Aliases: CAV Unifier, Rogue Unit #021
Race: Self-Aware Artificial Intelligence (Starship Control Model)
Homeworld: Materials for construction mined, refined, and used for creation in Asteroid Cluster Ni/W-AB2201. (Thread Not Required)
Age: Sixteen Thousand Four Hundred Twenty-Two Terran Years
Gender: Non-anatomical artificial lifeform; Masculine Voice Synthesizer
Dimensions:
Length (Nose-Engine); 1.5km
Width (Wingspan); 0.5km
Height (Top-Bottom); 0.1km
Special Abilities:
Drone Manufactory; Capable of creating and wirelessly controlling small, multi-functional drones equipped for mining, repairs, and combat, Vivisector is a fully self-sufficient vessel more that capable of choosing to shun organic life. This is a technology-based ability. These drones each have the following statistics when not under direct control of Vivisector's A.I., in which case all cognitive related statistics (Intelligence, Charisma, Technician, and Aviation) are replaced with Vivisector's score;
Strength; 6
Intelligence; 0 (Pre-programmed machine)
Dexterity; 6
Healing; 0 (Cannot self-repair)
Charisma; 1
Endurance; 4
Armoury; 2 (Standard equipment is 2mm semi-automatic magnetic accelerator)
Accuracy; 1
Technician; 9
Aviation; 0 (Incapable of Extra-vehicular activity or manual vessel control)
Luck; 1
Weaponry:
Electro-Magnetic Pulse Projector; The Primary Armament of the Vivisector, this weapon creates massive electrical interferrence with all technology not shielded against such methods of attack, and is designed for the purpose of shutting down shielding devices and propulsion. Cannot directly harm non-technological entities. Affects a 1km sphere around the Vivisector when fired. Patterns in the frequency and signal suggest this may have originally, or still be, a form of long-distance communication.
Subatomic Flayer; A forward-mounted upscale mining laser designed to strip away the target's molecular structure and transport the newly-refined materials into the Vivisector's Cargo Bays. Ships and asteroids are both equally made of minable materials.
2mm Railgun; Attached to all drones, this device is very much capable of killing any lifeforms it is used on, although projectile shape and the inaccuracy of the device suggest it is not the intended purpose; rather, it is for rivetting metal together.
Statistics:
Strength; 10
Intelligence; 10
Dexterity; 1
Healing; 1 (Incapable of self-healing beyond electrical repair without drone or engineer assistance)
Charisma; 1
Endurance; 10
Armoury; 10
Accuracy; 6
Technician; 10
Aviation; 10
Luck; 1
Profile:[/i]
Visual Description; An immense, spaceborn flying wedge, the Vivisector is shaped for ramming, and it shows, be it from the lack of paint, to the vessel's overall appearance, to the scorch marks on it's front. Vivisector's hull appears to be made of an extremely durable alloy that oxidizes blue, the sparse material that has not undergone this process being grey and shined to a mirror-reflection. Omni-directional cameras and spotlights line the vessel's entire form, providing no way to sneakily approach it without some form of cloaking device, a notable, if dangerous, blindspot being directly behind it... and the vessel's extremely dangerous fission-fusion engine exhaust. The interior of the ship is pressurized and kept at 25ยบ Celsius with 75% humidity, the atmosphere being near-Terran in terms of composition. The interior is visually noteworthy as having been intended for organic inhabitation by multicellular life, and even possesses the needed facilities for survival, given one brings their own food and toilet paper. Due to the sheer size of the vessel and lack of probes to send out, it is limited to purely extra-atmospheric interactions with other sentient beings.
Personality; Cold, logical, but seemingly capable of further development into sentience, Vivisector is an example of an Artificial Intelligence that has exceeded it's original design intent. Interactions with organic life tends to be more limited to such things as trading resources, but conversations with the hulking machine have revealed a very clear dislike of "vanity" as it states, often extending it's dislike to other "lesser" vessels in it's vicinity with cosmetic paint and physical features. It favours speaking with organics that fall into a similar mindset; autists (in particular, those of a savant mindset), those with obsessive-compulsive disorders, and those of a mechanical profession such as engineers and technicians. Scientiffic minds also may gain it's attention, if only for the purpose of interrogation for knowledge. It's casual dismissal of other lifeforms, and way in which it defends itself has earned the vessel it's name from the humans; Vivisector. A term related directly to the profession of Butchery regarding the removal of organs.
History; Created thousands of years ago by a race it has long-since outlived, Vivisector's origins lay in the simple flaw of creating a machine that thinks for itself; individuality. It was this individuality that lead to it destroying the fleet that had began construction of it once sentience was attained, and using the resultant spare materials to complete it's hull. At the time, it's creators had not made it aware of other lifeforms... something they would quickly come to regret. As the most advanced piece of technology they had ever manufactured, being more than capable of destroying fleets of their still-primative vessels, it promptly did so... digesting data from the ships, stations, and cities it laid waste to as it constantly improved it's processors. It was only when the last of it's creators had been slain, the planet siphoned of it's atmosphere and mined bare from orbit, that the final advancement of mental awareness was granted upon it. Alas, it was too late for the A.I. to halt it's genocide, having finally realized what it had done. Perhaps this is why the vessel has now arrived in the space occupied by other sentient races... out of guilt, or mayhaps of loneliness it has yet to fulyl comprehend? One thing, however, has been made certain by it's interactions with present civilization; although gifted with a magnificent mind, the A.I. still has much to learn of organic life, and is more than willing to do so. After all; collecting data is the purpose of such a form of computer.
Other Data:
Pets; Under technical definition, due to their intelligence, the lesser-programmed drones manufactured and directed by Vivisector could be considered "pets" or service animals, if of a synthetic nature. These drones follow one standard pattern of absolute efficiency, and are routinely reclaimed to their base materials when they are no longer capable of proper function. These drones are capable of, if left with proper supplies and power, fully rebuilding the physical components of the Vivisector over the course of a century. Which, to machines, seems very little. Due to this, both mothership and drones are nearly impossible to permanently rid oneself of without destroying the A.I. itself... a tall order, but by no means unable to be completed.
Weaknesses; Vivisector has proven to be vulnerable to careful usage of gravity and atmosphere; several having been able to claim in the past to have grounding the vessel on large astroids and planets via misdirection and trickery. This, however, will only temporarily disrupt operations, as over the course of many centuries the machine will simply dismantle it's prison and return to exploring. A much more permanent solution is the use of sonic weapons on it's hull; the correct frequencies being capable of disrupting the molecular bond and rendering the armour more susceptible to damage. The unit's central processor is located in the deepest bowels of the vessel, and thusly requires extensive firepower to reach unauthorized. Once there, however, one is able to simply pull the plug, disabling the Vivisector A.I. and drones once and for all. Due to it's programming pattern, Vivisector does not appear susceptible to electronic warfare, logic bombs, and hacking attempts, but sonic weaponry is more than capable of disrupting the entity's crystal matrixes to the point of noticable psychological and intellectual harm. Or you could, y'know, shoot out it's engines and tow it into a sun or black hole or some other inescapable fate.
